Job summary

Altea Healthcare is seeking a Medical Coding and Education Specialist to enhance coding accuracy and compliance across post-acute care facilities. You will review records and assign ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS codes, and develop educational materials.

You will collaborate with technology and revenue cycle teams to optimize EMR processes, reduce denials, and provide training to providers and onboarding staff. Remote role, preferably in Texas, with annual compensation of $65,000 to $75,000.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years’ experience in medical coding with a valid coding certification.
• CCS or CPC certification required.
• At least 3 years in provider medical group coding in post-acute care settings such as skilled nursing facilities.
• Proficiency in ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems and guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular coding audits to ensure compliance with coding guidelines and reimbursement policies.
• Develop and deliver educational materials and training on coding guidelines and post-acute documentation requirements.
• Collaborate with providers and operations to clarify documentation and coding issues.
• Partner with the technology team to optimize EMR processes and reduce coding denials.
• Stay updated on healthcare regulations and coding guideline changes relevant to post-acute care.
• Review medical records to assign precise codes using ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS.
• Educate providers on best practices for accurate documentation to support proper coding and reimbursement.
• Provide onboarding and refresher training for new staff.
