Job summary

Datavant is seeking a Provider Practice Coding Consultant to guide healthcare professionals in improved coding practices and compliance. You will collaborate with clients and leaders to identify solutions and ensure high-quality coding outcomes in hospitals and alternative care settings.

The role focuses on accurate CPT/ICD-10 coding, data quality reviews, and effective communication while supporting ongoing education and adherence to industry standards.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of coding experience.
• AHIMA credentials (RHIA, RHIT, CCS) or AAPC credentials (CPC, CPC-H, COC, CIC or CRC).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, adeptness in remote work, and exceptional time management skills.
• Experience in computerized encoding and abstracting software.
• Annual HIPAA training and related testing must be passed.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records and assign precise codes (CPT, ICD-10-CM, ICD-10 procedures, ICD-10 CM and ICD-10 PCS, HCPCS).
• Conduct data quality reviews of records for compliance with coding guidelines.
• Communicate professionally with colleagues, management, and hospital staff on clinical and reimbursement issues.
• Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Identify documentation improvement opportunities and coding issues.
• Use VPN access to complete tasks remotely and securely.
• Uphold Datavant and HIM Division policies for compliance and efficiency.
• Track continuing education credits to maintain expertise.
• Attend mandatory in-service and educational meetings aligning with industry best practices.
• Adhere to AHIMA's code of ethics and professional standards.
