Datavant, a data collaboration platform for healthcare, seeks a Provider Practice Coding Consultant to guide coding practices, ensure compliance, and improve service outcomes across hospital and alternative care settings. You will review records, assign CPT/ICD codes, conduct data quality reviews, and communicate with clinicians and management while upholding policies.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of coding experience.
• AHIMA credentials (RHIA, RHIT, CCS) or AAPC credentials (CPC, CPC-H, COC, CIC or CRC).
• Strong written and verbal communication; adeptness in remote work.
• Experience with computerized encoding and abstracting software.
• Must take and pass annual HIPAA examination and other testing.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records and assign precise codes (CPT, ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, HCPCS).
• Conduct data quality reviews of records to assess coding guidelines compliance.
• Communicate professionally with coworkers, management, and hospital staff on clinical and reimbursement issues.
• Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Identify documentation improvement opportunities and coding issues.
• Use VPN access to ensure productive and flexible task completion.
• Uphold Datavant and HIM Division policies for compliance and efficiency.
• Track continuing education credits to maintain professional expertise.
• Attend mandatory sponsored in-service and educational meetings.
• Adhere to AHIMA's code of ethics.
