Job summary

Datavant, a data collaboration platform trusted for healthcare, seeks a Provider Practice Coding Consultant to guide clinical coding and education across hospitals and alternative care settings. You will review records, ensure CPT/ICD-10 alignment, and collaborate with clients and healthcare leaders to improve coding quality and compliance.

You will participate in ongoing education, maintain certifications, and promote efficiency while adhering to ethical standards.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of coding experience.
• AHIMA credentials (RHIA/RHIT/CCS) or AAPC credentials (CPC/CPC-H/COC/CRC).
• Strong written and verbal communication with remote-work capability.
• Experience with computerized encoding and abstracting software.
• Must pass annual HIPAA-related testing.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records and assign CPT/ICD-10 coding aligned with client needs.
• Conduct data quality reviews to ensure documentation guidance compliance.
• Communicate professionally with colleagues, management, and hospital staff.
• Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Identify documentation improvement opportunities and coding issues.
• Use VPN access to complete tasks securely and flexibly.
• Uphold Datavant HIM division policies for compliance and efficiency.
• Track continuing education credits and maintain professional expertise.
• Attend sponsored in-service and educational meetings.
• Adhere to AHIMA's code of ethics and professional standards.
