Job summary

DaMar Staffing is seeking a REMOTE Medical Coding Auditor to support Active Duty heroes, their families, and retirees. This full-time role runs Mon-Fri, 8-hour shifts between 7:30am–4:30pm, with responsibilities spanning auditing diagnoses, procedures, and documentation across inpatient, ambulatory, and facility coding.

The ideal candidate will hold HIM/healthcare-related education and professional coding certifications, and will stay current with DHA, DoD, and OIG regulations while delivering

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in health information management, healthcare administration, or a biological science.
• University certificate in medical coding.
• At least 30 semester hours including anatomy/physiology, medical terminology, or health information management.
• Completed AAPC/AHIMA coding certification prep course for professional or facility coding.
• Training beyond apprentice level in medical techs from Armed Forces/U.S. Maritime Service.

Responsibilities

• Verify accuracy of diagnosis, procedure codes and sequencing for professional and facility components.
• Provide second-level review to ensure compliant coding for optimal reimbursements.
• Examine records for proper documentation, signatures, and data sufficiency.
• Conduct DQMC audits and provide accuracy data to MTFS for monthly review.
• Develop/audit focused coding tasks per DHA-MCPB guidance.
• Identify and resolve documentation inconsistencies and legibility issues.
• Educate providers and staff to resolve coding/documentation issues.
• Answer provider questions with coding examples and references.
• Collaborate with coders, trainers, and compliance staff on education.
• Stay updated on federal laws, OIG, DoD and DHA regulations affecting coding.
