Job summary

Posterity Group LLC is staffing The Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center with a Medical Coder. The role entails entering and indexing clinical documents, attaching images to EHR items, and ensuring accuracy of veteran records in Cerner/Oracle.

Required: active coding credential (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC or equivalent) and at least 3 years of relevant experience; familiarity with Cerner/Oracle; strong data-entry and office software skills (Word/Excel). VA or federal healthcare experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of medical clinics and clinical documentation.
• Ability to locate FINs and link documents to veteran record in Cerner/Oracle.
• Ability to index documents within health record sections, note title, date of service, and visit location.
• Ability to verify images uploaded correctly and legible for viewing.
• Data entry skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
• Prior experience with Cerner/Oracle or comparable EHR document management systems preferred.
• Active coding credential (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, or equivalent) required.
• Prior VA or federal healthcare coding strongly preferred.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Attach images to EHR elements and ensure correct association.
• Verify images uploaded correctly and legible for viewing.
• Locate FINs and link documents to the correct veteran record in Cerner/Oracle.
• Index documents within the correct section, note title, date of service, and visit location.
• Perform 100% internal QA on all work before submission.
