Job summary

DaMar Staffing seeks a Medical Coder to perform remote coding of VA medical records, covering inpatient admissions, ambulatory surgeries and outpatient encounters. You will use VA encoder/EHR tools, follow CPT/ICD-CM guidelines, and align with NCCI and HCPCS practices.

Requirements include AHIMA/AAPC credentials and 6–8 years of outpatient/inpatient coding experience, with strict HIPAA and privacy compliance. Public Trust clearance and US citizenship are needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or other equivalent.
• Hold an active credential from AHIMA (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CCA, CDIP) or AAPC (CPC, CPC-H or successor equivalents).
• Have completed baseline ICD-10 training/CEUs required to maintain their credential.
• Have completed an accredited program in coding, health information management, or health information technology.

Responsibilities

• Code inpatient admissions, ambulatory surgery cases, and outpatient encounters.
• Code inpatient professional services and non-VA care under VA auspices as directed.
• Perform limited coding audits/validation reviews when requested.
• Comply with HIPAA provisions and VA information security/privacy requirements.
