Job summary

ChristianaCare is seeking a full-time Coding Coordinator to ensure timely and accurate coding for reimbursement and data collection. You will coordinate daily coding and support staff within Health Information Management Services.

Responsibilities include developing coding policies, training staff on guidelines, reviewing discrepancies, and preventing backlog while ensuring abstraction accuracy across inpatient and outpatient accounts.

Qualifications

• RHIA, RHIT or CCS certification or equivalent certification/degree.
• Three years coding experience in a Health Information Management Department or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates daily coding and coding support functions of Health Information Management Services.
• Develops coding policies and procedures in accordance with CMS, AHIMA, AHA, and AMA guidelines.
• Verifies coding and abstracting accuracy by performing quantitative and qualitative reviews.
• Codes inpatient and outpatient accounts as necessary to prevent backlog situations.

Education

RHIA, RHIT or CCS certification or equivalent certification/degree

College credits in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology
