Job summary

CentraCare is seeking a Coding Specialist 2 to convert documentation into accurate ICD-CM, CPT/HCPCS codes. The role requires collaboration with clinical staff to ensure precise coding for reimbursement.

The position offers full-time hours, Mon-Fri Days CST, and work-from-home flexibility. AHIMA or AAPC certification is required, with experience in EPIC and knowledge of insurance billing.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Completion of college level courses in ICD, CPT4, and HCPCS verified through AHIMA or AAPC or relevant experience in anatomy and physiology and medical terminology.
• AHIMA or AAPC Certification required.
• 1 year experience in a medical office.
• Experience in ICD-10 and CPT coding.
• Previous experience working with EPIC.
• Working knowledge of insurance and third-party billing.
• Computer knowledge and keyboard skills.

Responsibilities

• Review electronic and written documentation to convert into diagnostic and/or procedure codes.
• Code records accurately and timely using ICD CM, CPT/HCPCS.
• Communicate with clinical staff for accurate translation of documentation.
• Assist in quality and productivity audits, data collection, and reporting.
• Ensure proper reimbursement for professional and facility services.
• Safeguard patient privacy and confidentiality.
