Job summary

Hennepin Healthcare is seeking a Coding Specialist II to join our Professional Billing Coding team. This full‑time role will primarily work remote (Day, M‑F) and focuses on the assignment of ICD, HCPCS/CPT, and E/M codes for outpatient and/or inpatient encounters.

The ideal candidate has completed an AAPC or AHIMA coding program with at least one year of coding experience, and demonstrates strong communication and the ability to work independently.

Qualifications

• Must have completed an AAPC or AHIMA coding program and one year of coding experience or equivalent.
• Knowledge of ICD, HCPCS/CPT, and E/M coding guidelines.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Assigns ICD, HCPCS/CPT, and E/M codes for outpatient or inpatient encounters with high accuracy and productivity.
• Abstracts demographic and clinical data for performance improvement, research, reporting, and reimbursement purposes.
• Validates charges on accounts/charge sessions.
• Interacts with providers and staff to clarify coding issues.
• Keeps statistics, records, and logs for assigned work area.
• Assists in training and in-services of students and new employees.
