Job summary

Newport News, Virginia-based health information role seeks a coder to assign ICD-10-CM and CPT codes, ensure accurate documentation and support correct reimbursements. Remote work eligibility applies for certain states (FL, GA, ID, KS, KY, MS, NC, OK, SC, SD, TN, VA).

Responsibilities include organizing workload, maintaining coding accuracy, and collaborating with physicians and patient financial services. 1 year ICD coding and CPT experience preferred; CPC/COC certification upon hire required.

Qualifications

• Must have CPC or COC certification upon hire (Required).
• 1 year ICD-10-CM coding experience in a medical practice (Preferred).
• OBGYN coding experience (Preferred).

Responsibilities

• Organize and prioritize coding work; assign ICD and CPT codes; review and query for gaps.
• Maintain ICD-10-CM and CPT coding accuracy for claims; target 90%+ accuracy.
• Coordinate with providers and billing staff to ensure correct coding and reimbursements.

Education
