Job summary

Norton Healthcare is seeking a Coder I to review, analyze and code diagnostic and procedural information using ICD-10-CM and CPT for reimbursement. You will assign and sequence codes, query physicians for ambiguous data, and ensure compliance with official guidelines to support accurate billing.

This fully remote role requires residency in Kentucky or other allowed states; you'll collaborate with the coding team to meet departmental goals and support high-quality documentation and coding

Qualifications

  • One year hospital coding in healthcare setting.
  • One of: CCA or CCS or CIC-ICD or COC or CPC or RHIA or RHIT.
  • Diploma and relevant coding certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews, analyzes and codes diagnostic and procedural information using ICD-10-CM diagnosis and procedures and CPT coding for reimbursement.
  • Assign and sequence ICD-10-CM/CPT codes by applying regulatory coding guidelines.
  • Query physicians for diagnoses or missing/ambiguous information for accurate coding.
  • Apply organizational documentation policies and procedures in conjunction with official coding guidelines.
  • Code all 23-hour observations, same day surgery, ER and clinic records accurately and timely.
  • Support team to meet organizational financial goals.
