The coder will assign ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes, abstract data, and participate in ongoing training on coding guidelines to ensure accurate billing and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• 1-3 years related coding experience or credentials.
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding systems.
• Basic computer skills and workstation navigation.

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10-CM diagnosis and CPT-4 procedure codes from medical records.
• Abstract data into BIDMC coding system per guidelines.
• Sequence codes per ICD-10-CM rules and ensure timely submission.
• Participate in training for ICD-10-CM updates and coding guidelines.
• Identify and resolve documentation or abstracting issues.
• Suggest process improvements for department efficiency.
• Create and maintain ultrasound billing policy grid.
