Job summary

Signature Performance is seeking a Medical Coder for a remote, nationwide role. You will carefully assign principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures by reviewing medical records, ensuring coding accuracy, and selecting codes in line with Official Coding Guidelines for proper reimbursement.

Ideal candidates hold AHIMA or AAPC certifications, 2+ years of professional coding experience, and familiarity with EHR systems.

Qualifications

• Education, experience & certification vary by coding.
• AHIMA or AAPC certifications accepted.
• Minimum 2 years of Medical Coding experience required.
• Experience with Professional Fee Coding.
• Experience with EHR systems.
• RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P, CPC certifications listed.

Responsibilities

• Assign principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures from medical records.
• Review discharge summaries and notes to assign codes.
• Ensure correct code selection per Official Coding Guidelines.
• Sequence diagnoses by clinical significance for reimbursement.
• Review coding for accuracy before submission to billing.
• Abstract medical/demographic information into the system and correct errors.
• Identify incomplete documentation and obtain missing information.
• Meet coding quality and quantity expectations.
