Qualifications

• Active CPC certification is required.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT for outpatient coding.
• Experience coding in outpatient settings (primary care, ambulatory surgery, clinics).
• Experience with diverse clinical documentation types and coding challenges.
• Proficient written and verbal communication with attention to detail.
• Access to up-to-date official coding books and E/M guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Annotate and review outpatient records with ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS codes.
• Apply E/M leveling to outpatient visits following official guidelines.
• Follow outpatient coding conventions and medical necessity rules.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to clarify requirements and resolve ambiguities.
• Provide feedback to improve workflows and model understanding.
