Job summary

Virtua Health seeks a qualified Medical Coder to join our team. You will abstract clinical information and assign CPT-4 and ICD-10-CM codes from medical records to support professional fees.

Requirements include CPC certification, at least 2 years coding experience, knowledge of anatomy & physiology and medical terminology, and proficiency with Windows and electronic health record systems. This is a 100% remote, full-time role with a competitive hourly rate.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years records coding experience and/or equivalent education (completion of AAPC course or completion of Coding program at trade school).
• Knowledge of Anatomy & Physiology/ Medical terminology required.
• CPC (Certified Professional Coder) Certified required.
• Required Education: High School Diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Abstract billing for outpatient evaluation and management codes and HCPCS codes from provider documentation.
• Research simple coding/billing issues for the physicians to identify and recommend the most appropriate method of coding/billing.
• Analysis of the medical record to determine the appropriateness of coding and potential patterns of abuse.
