Job summary

MEDHOST, a division of Harris, is seeking an Account Follow-up Representative I to review and resolve outstanding insurance balances for hospital patient accounts. This remote role supports CST/EST time zones in the US, focusing on timely AR resolution and payor communications.

The position requires basic insurance claims knowledge, strong data entry and Excel skills, and a commitment to quality and compliance in HIPAA-driven processes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1+ years' related experience preferred; degree in Medical Billing/Coding considered in lieu of experience.
• Proficient with computer applications (Excel, Word, email) and data entry systems.
• Excellent communication, good judgment, and ability to work under pressure.
• HIPAA privacy and security compliance knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Follow up on hospital patient accounts for insurance payments; verify, rebill, and note steps for resolution.
• Handle 30–40 accounts per workday for assigned payors.
• Address denials and $0 pay reports within 48 hours of receipt.
• Communicate with insurance companies to secure payment of balances.
• Document research findings and next steps clearly in patient accounts.
