Job summary

Akima Infrastructure Services (AIS) is seeking a senior mechanical engineer for a remote, 6-month contract on a novel advanced reactor design project. You will apply mechanical principles to high-temperature systems and nuclear structures, ensuring designs meet ASME B31 standards and safety requirements.

The role requires an ABET-accredited degree, 8+ years (or MS with 6+ years), and US citizenship. Travel to INL Idaho Falls or MFC is expected about once per month.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited degree in mechanical engineering with 6+ years (MS with 6+ years acceptable).
• US citizenship required for the role.
• Remote work with monthly travel to INL Idaho Falls or MFC.
• Knowledge of ASME B31 design principles and nuclear safety requirements.
• Ability to develop and manage design requirements and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and evaluation of multi-disciplinary reactor systems.
• Develop and document electromechanical designs and drawings.
• Ensure conformance with codes and standards in fabrication and testing.
• Coordinate with engineers to meet safety and performance baselines.
