Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Hardware Designer and Drafter for a fully remote contract role, based out of Troy, MI. You will produce precise 2D drawings, 3D models, and BOMs for robotic and automation systems, using SolidWorks and AutoCAD while managing design data in PDM/PLM.

Requirements include at least 5 years in electromechanical design, PCB documentation, and cable assembly design, with GD&T proficiency and ECO/BOM experience. Remote collaboration and fast-paced delivery are key.

Qualifications

• Experience creating mechanical drawings and models for electromechanical or robotic systems.
• Experience producing PCB mechanical assembly documentation.
• Experience designing and documenting cable assemblies.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed 2D drawings, 3D models, and labels for in-house hardware products including robotics.
• Draft PCB mechanical layouts and cable assembly documentation with clear instructions.
• Deliver complete BOMs and assembly drawings with GD&T.
• Maintain design data in PDM/PLM with robust version control.
• Apply ECOs and BOM changes and interpret engineering drawings.
