Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer for a fully remote role focused on robotics and automation. You will design mechanical structures, assemblies, and mechanisms using 3D CAD, perform FEA, and collaborate with EE/software teams in a virtual environment.

Candidates should hold a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering with robotics or mechatronics focus and 6+ years of experience designing robotics or complex machinery.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering with robotics or mechatronics focus.
• Minimum 6 years of mechanical design experience in robotics, automation, or complex machinery.
• Expert proficiency in advanced 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Inventor) and PDM/PLM systems.
• Strong experience with FEA and dynamic simulation tools for mechanism analysis.
• Solid understanding of control systems and robotics kinematics/dynamics.
• Excellent problem-solving and remote teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and refine mechanical components, sub-assemblies, and full robotic systems using 3D CAD.
• Perform detailed structural, kinematic, and dynamic analyses using FEA and simulation tools.
• Create manufacturing drawings, tolerances, and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with electrical, software, and control systems teams in a virtual environment.
• Select materials, bearings, actuators, and sensors for robotic applications.
• Oversee prototyping, testing, and design modifications to improve performance and manufacturability.
