Navarro Research and Engineering is seeking an Applied Mechanical Engineer / Mechanical Design Engineer to support a novel reactor design project. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to apply mechanical engineering principles to heat, gas, fluids, and solid mechanics, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient system performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program with substantial relevant experience.
• Minimum eight years of relevant mechanical engineering experience; or six years with a Master’s degree.
• Experience applying codes and standards in reactor-related mechanical design, safety, and qualification contexts.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team on the design of a novel advanced reactor.
• Perform mechanical system design and evaluation to support project goals.
• Design and evaluate high-temperature springs and safety-related nuclear structures per ASME B31 requirements.
• Document design and maintain conformance with codes, standards, and technical baselines.
• Develop and manage design requirements using systems engineering and digital tools.
• Establish testing, inspection, and quality requirements for critical design features.
• Oversee fabrication, construction, and procurement to align with approved designs.
• Ensure designs satisfy technical baselines and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain configuration management for the baseline and assigned systems.
• Support experiment design, installation, testing, and operational readiness for reactor safety bases.
