Job summary

NuScale Power, LLC is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead conceptual design efforts for systems and components within NuScale’s microreactor program. The role reports to the manager for product development and involves development of robust thermal-mechanical designs and cost-conscious integration.

Ideal candidates will have a BS in Nuclear/Mechanical/Chemical Engineering and at least 5 years of direct mechanical design experience, including ANSYS, with DOE regulatory awareness and

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Nuclear, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering from a four year accredited college or university.
• Minimum of 5 years of full-time engineering experience in mechanical design of systems and components, including expertise with structural analysis using ANSYS.
• Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.

Responsibilities

• Conceptual design development of systems and components.
• Support design trade studies.
• Perform thermal mechanical design analysis for static stress, fatigue, and creep, using analytical and computational methods.
• Product cost modeling.
• Support instrumentation selection and instrumentation design integration.
• Support system and component design development for test facilities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
