Job summary

RISINGSUN TECHNOLOGIES is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer III for a remote US-based position supporting an SMR project. You will engage with engineering design teams, manufacturing vendors, sourcing, and procurement to ensure component manufacturing quality and issue resolution.

Responsibilities include reviewing drawings and test plans, coordinating with vendors, and ensuring compliance with ASME III, ASME B31.1, and nuclear QA requirements.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and 5+ years of mechanical fabrication experience.
• Familiarity with ASME Section III and ASME B31.1.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
• Experience in component design, fabrication support, and welding design/practices.
• Experience reviewing drawings, schematics, shop drawings, procedures, and inspection/test plans.
• Knowledge of nuclear QA programs including 10 CFR 50, Appendix B.

Responsibilities

• Resolve vendor technical inquiries, supplier change requests, and fabrication issues.
• Review inspection/test plans, procedures, vendor documents, drawings, schematics, and shop drawings.
• Participate in weekly vendor meetings, monitor fabrication progress, and support onsite inspections.
• Ensure designs and docs meet ASME III and nuclear QA requirements.
• Identify and resolve open items and nonconformance reports affecting design, procurement, and installation.
• Collaborate with engineering, sourcing, procurement, and vendors to support requirements and fabrication activities.
