Job summary

RISINGSUN TECHNOLOGIES is hiring a Mechanical Design Engineer to support a small modular reactor (SMR) project. The role oversees nuclear mechanical components from design through fabrication and final acceptance, ensuring code compliance, service readiness, and long-term reliability.

This remote position requires 5+ years in nuclear or regulated industries, CAD (Inventor), and ASME NQA-1 exposure. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams across the U.S. and Canada.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to work under schedule pressure and collaborate across teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and review mechanical component specs, drawings, and fabrication docs.
• Define materials, weld details, and inspection per ASME III.
• Review CMTRs, CoCs, NDE records, and data packages.
• Address supplier change requests and fabrication procedures.
• Resolve issues during fabrication, testing, and inspection.
• Ensure compliance with 10 CFR 50 Appendix B and ASME NQA-1.
• Support environmental and seismic qualification of components.
• Lead resolution of nonconformances and design/fabrication issues.
