Job summary

We are seeking a highly technical Mechanical Engineer for the X-300 SMR project on a 100% remote US basis. The role requires 5+ years in mechanical fabrication and nuclear component design, with deep ASME Section III and ASME B.31.1 knowledge.

You will coordinate with global vendors, internal design teams, and sourcing/procurement to ensure fabrication aligns with project schedules, regulatory standards, and QA requirements. A PE license is desirable but not required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field).
• Minimum 5+ years in mechanical fabrication, preferably 3+ years in nuclear component design/manufacturing.
• Deep knowledge of ASME Section III and ASME B.31.1.
• Familiarity with ASME Y14.5 GD&T.
• Experience with nuclear Quality Assurance programs (10 CFR 50, Appendix B).
• Experience with active component qualification and welding practices.
• Material compatibility and selection knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Technical Ownership: Support VR-type issues (Change Requests, ITPs, Procedure Reviews, Vendor Document Reviews).
• Vendor Oversight: Interface with vendors, weekly meetings; may support onsite inspections.
• Regulatory & Code Compliance: Ensure designs/documentation meet ASME III and NQA requirements.
• Resolution of Open Items: Identify and resolve NCRs impacting design, procurement and installation.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with design, sourcing, procurement, PM and vendors to support fabrication.
