Job summary

RemoteJobsOne is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer - CAD & Manufacturing for a fully remote contractor role. Qualifications

• Extensive industry experience in mechanical design and transition from concept to manufacturing.
• Expert-level proficiency in CAD software across multiple platforms.
• Solid hands-on knowledge of FreeCAD for referencing models.
• Strong drafting standards, GD&T, and detailed manufacturing documentation.
• Deep understanding of materials, processes, and DFM best practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to document decisions clearly.
• Experience collaborating on remote engineering projects and providing constructive feedback.

Responsibilities

• Create and interpret professional engineering drawings for manufacturing.
• Translate complex design requirements into manufacturable CAD specifications with accuracy.
• Produce 2D and 3D models using SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Onshape, Inventor, Creo, NX; reference FreeCAD models.
• Apply GD&T and tolerancing to all deliverables.
• Document and communicate manufacturing processes and design intent clearly.
• Review and improve existing engineering documentation for clarity and manufacturability.
• Contribute insights on design for manufacture and optimize parts for real-world production.
