Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a highly experienced Master Network & Security Engineer to lead the design, operation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of enterprise network-security infrastructure. This role focuses on Palo Alto Networks NGFWs, Panorama, High Availability, Cisco switching, and Cortex XSIAM.

The Senior Engineer will act as a technical escalation point for complex incidents, lead architecture initiatives, and partner with SOC, infrastructure, cloud, and leadership teams to reduce

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or equivalent experience in cybersecurity/IT/engineering.
• 10+ years in network engineering/security/related fields.
• 6+ years hands-on Palo Alto firewall experience in enterprise.
• Advanced experience with Panorama and HA deployments.
• Strong knowledge of enterprise switching/routing and VPNs.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, deployment, and lifecycle management of Palo Alto NGFW environments (PAN-OS).
• Own centralized firewall management via Panorama with templates and device groups.
• Design and govern security policies using zero-trust and least-privilege principles.
• Configure and troubleshoot VPNs, URL filtering, threat prevention, and App-ID policies.
• Lead network segmentation with VLANs, virtual routers, and security policies.
• Develop secure controls for traffic between users, servers, and cloud resources.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead incident response efforts.
