Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Master Network & Security Engineer to lead design, operation, and troubleshooting of enterprise network-security infrastructure. This fully remote role focuses on Palo Alto NGFWs, Panorama, HA, Cisco switching, and zero-trust policy. You will coordinate with SOC and other teams to reduce risk and maintain high availability.

The Senior Engineer will mentor staff, drive architecture initiatives, and ensure secure, scalable network services across the organization.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or equivalent experience in cybersecurity/IT/CS/engineering.
• 10+ years in network engineering or security infrastructure operations.
• 6+ years hands-on Palo Alto firewall experience in production environments.
• Advanced experience with Palo Alto Panorama and HA deployments.
• Strong TCP/IP, routing, VPN, NAT, and security policy knowledge.
• Experience with Cisco Catalyst/Nexus switching and enterprise networking.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, deployment, and lifecycle management of Palo Alto NGFW environments running PAN-OS.
• Own centralized firewall management through Palo Alto Panorama and policy inheritance.
• Design and govern security policies using zero-trust and least-privilege principles.
• Configure and troubleshoot security zones, NAT, VPNs, and App-ID policies.
• Lead network segmentation and microsegmentation initiatives across the enterprise.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership on major incidents.
