Job summary

GovCIO seeks a Master Network & Security Engineer to lead the design, operation, troubleshooting, and improvement of enterprise network-security infrastructure. You will manage Palo Alto NGFWs, Panorama, HA, and Cisco switching, and collaborate with SOC, infrastructure, cloud, and leadership teams to reduce risk and maintain highly available services.

The Senior Engineer will serve as a technical escalation point for complex incidents and drive architecture initiatives to standards.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, IT, CS, Engineering or related field (3 extra years if Bachelor’s).
• 10+ years in network engineering, security, or related operations.
• 6+ years hands-on Palo Alto firewall experience in production.
• Advanced experience with Panorama and multi-device policy management.
• Strong knowledge of HA designs and failure-recovery processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, deployment, and lifecycle management of Palo Alto NGFW environments.
• Own centralized firewall management via Panorama (device groups, templates, upgrades, backups).
• Design and govern security policies using zero-trust, least-privilege principles.
• Configure and troubleshoot NAT, VPN, URL Filtering, Threat Prevention, and App-ID policies.
• Lead network segmentation and microsegmentation across zones and VLANs.
• Develop secure controls between users, servers, data centers, and cloud resources.
• Architect and test HA deployments (Active/Passive, Active/Active).
• Mentor junior engineers and lead incident response and root-cause analyses.
