Job summary

RemoteJobsOne is seeking a Manufacturing Design Engineer on a contract basis. You will design mechanical parts and assemblies using FreeCAD, create detailed drawings with GD&T, and ensure designs are production-ready for multiple manufacturing processes.

The role requires at least 2 years in mechanical design for manufacturing, strong documentation skills, and the ability to communicate clearly with reviewers and teams. This fully remote position is open to US-based candidates.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience designing mechanical components for manufacturing environments.
• Proficiency in FreeCAD or similar parametric CAD software for advanced modeling, assemblies and drawing generation.
• Hands-on exposure to sheet metal, CNC, plastics and injection molding design considerations.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) best practices.
• Proven ability to produce production-grade CAD models and validate them against real-world manufacturability criteria.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, ensuring clarity in documentation and collaborative exchanges.

Responsibilities

• Create and modify detailed parametric 3D CAD models of mechanical parts and assemblies using FreeCAD or comparable software.
• Develop comprehensive engineering drawings, including GD&T and tolerance stack-ups, suitable for manufacturing handoff.
• Design for a variety of manufacturing processes, such as sheet metal fabrication, CNC machining, plastics, and injection molding.
• Perform CAD validation and quality assurance reviews to ensure model accuracy and readiness for production use.
• Prepare clear, concise technical documentation and assembly instructions as reference materials for AI model training.
• Incorporate feedback from technical reviewers to revise and improve CAD models and supporting documents.
