Job summary

OpenTrain AI, Inc. is seeking a remote, part-time contractor to develop and review mechanical CAD models and drawings for AI training materials. The role emphasizes manufacturing know-how, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and clear technical documentation.

The work involves designing parts for sheet metal, plastics, and CNC machining, plus updating models based on engineering feedback. Prior AI training experience is not required.

Qualifications

• At least two years designing mechanical components for manufacturing.
• Proficient with FreeCAD or similar parametric CAD software.
• Strong GD&T and tolerance analysis knowledge.
• Ability to produce manufacturing-ready drawings and documentation.
• Experience reviewing designs for manufacturability and production readiness.

Responsibilities

• Create and revise parametric 3D CAD models of mechanical parts and assemblies in FreeCAD or similar software.
• Produce manufacturing-ready engineering drawings with GD&T and tolerance stack-ups.
• Design parts for sheet metal fabrication, CNC machining, plastics, and injection molding.
• Review CAD models for accuracy and manufacturability.
• Write concise technical documentation and assembly instructions for AI training materials.
• Update models and documentation based on technical review feedback.
