Job summary

ERM seeks a Managing Consultant, Environmental Regulatory FERC Specialist to guide clients through FERC processes for energy infrastructure projects across the United States. You will balance regulatory compliance with sustainable project delivery and have a lead role in complex permitting strategies.

You will lead authoring of FERC resource reports, coordinate with agencies, and support proposals while traveling to project sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in environmental studies, environmental management, planning, geography, or related field.
• 4-6 years (5-10 years preferred) of experience in permitting FERC-regulated capital development projects.
• Proven ability to research and present findings to clients and regulatory agencies.
• Strong technical writing, verbal communication, and analytical skills.
• Experience with federal, state, and local permitting for development projects.
• Ability to travel frequently and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Driver's License required: frequent travel; not eligible for immigration sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Lead author on FERC resource reports and permitting deliverables.
• Research, analyze, and compile data for permit applications and regulatory reports.
• Act as subject matter expert on large-scale projects, managing scope and safety aspects.
• Support technical proposals and contribute to business development.
• Engage with agencies such as FERC, USFWS, USACE, EPA, and others.
