Job summary

ERM seeks a Managing Consultant, Environmental Regulatory FERC Specialist to lead regulatory efforts for major energy projects. The role is remote across the United States, focusing on FERC permitting, strategic reporting, and stakeholder engagement with federal and state agencies.

The candidate will guide complex capital projects, deliver high-quality technical documents, and mentor teams. Strong writing, communication, and travel readiness are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in environmental studies, environmental management, wetland science, planning, geography, or related natural resources field
• 4-6 years (5-10 years preferred) of experience in permitting FERC-regulated capital development projects
• Strong technical writing, verbal communication, and analytical skills
• Experience with federal, state, and local permitting for development projects
• Ability to multi-task, travel frequently, and work independently with minimal supervision
• Driver's License required and ability to travel across large geographic area

Responsibilities

• Lead author on FERC resource reports and permitting deliverables
• Research, analyze, and compile data for permit applications and regulatory reports
• Act as a subject matter expert on large-scale projects
• Support technical proposals and contribute to business development
• Engage with regulatory agencies such as FERC, USFWS, USACE, EPA and others
• Ensure quality control and compliance across all FERC-related applications and documentation
