Job summary

Eliassen Group is seeking a skilled Mainframe Engineer for a remote W2 contract in the Financial Services sector. The role centers on designing, developing, testing, configuring, and supporting mainframe systems.

Expect responsibilities spanning from roadmapping mainframe languages to coordinating multi-department migrations and agile delivery. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years with mainframe tech, COBOL/CICS/SAS/MQ experience, and a strong background in Wealth and Asset Management.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience with AmTrust accounting system.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or comparable experience with 20+ years of experience.
• Expert knowledge of mainframe operating systems and hardware.
• Strong knowledge of TSO and mainframe technology.
• Experience with COBOL, CICS, SAS, and MQ.
• Background in Wealth and Asset Management.
• Knowledge of functional software design and development best practices.
• Experience with Git and GitHub.
• Understanding of software development methodologies.
• Strong problem solving and collaboration skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as mainframe subject matter expert.
• Coordinate cross-department projects involving mainframe application migrations.
• Maintain understanding of current and future infrastructure.
• Establish language and development tool directions and roadmaps.
• Lead implementation efforts and coordinate vendors; manage tests and progress.
• Develop features while improving product and application quality.
• Mentor developers and enforce coding standards.
• Automate processes and write maintainable, testable code.
• Partner with operations to drive service improvements.
• Remain current on IT trends and assist with problem resolution.
