Job summary

Ensono is seeking a Mainframe Engineer to design, develop, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, CICS, JCL, DB2 and VSAM. You will lead technical initiatives, support incident resolution and work across waterfall and agile environments.

This remote US role requires 3–5 years of specialized mainframe experience, strong SDLC and DevOps understanding, and the ability to mentor junior teammates while delivering reliable, scalable mainframe solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Extensive experience in mainframe application development, support and maintenance.
• Proficiency in mainframe technologies: COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, VSAM; SDLC; version control tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Mainframe applications using COBOL, CICS, JCL, DB2, and VSAM.
• Experience with enterprise-ticketing systems (ServiceNow, Service Manager, etc.) and their workflows.
• Work on waterfall and agile projects; handle Incidents, Service Requests and Change Requests.
• Provide technical troubleshooting and resolution for complex applications and integrations.
• Conduct performance tuning and optimization of Mainframe applications and queries.
• Develop technical documentation for business and support teams.
• Understand requirements and propose implementation options aligned with business needs.
