Job summary
Cognizant is seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer with strong COBOL/JCL/VSAM skills to support core banking applications in a remote role across the United States.
The candidate will design, develop, and maintain mainframe solutions for Deposits, Loans, Customer & Account Management, General Ledger, and Tax systems, while collaborating with business analysts and QA teams to ensure smooth deployments and production readiness.
Qualifications
- 5+ years hands-on mainframe development in COBOL/JCL/VSAM
- Experience with core banking modules (Deposits, Loans, GL, Tax)
- Knowledge of mainframe tools Endevor/Xpediter/Easytrieve
- CICS/IMS knowledge preferred
- Experience with production support & deployments in banking
- Familiarity with FIS Systematics is a plus
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, enhance, test, and maintain mainframe applications for core banking operations
- Analyze requirements and translate into mainframe solutions
- Develop and support batch jobs using COBOL, JCL, and VSAM
- Debug, troubleshoot, resolve defects, provide production support
- Collaborate with analysts, architects, testers, and stakeholders
- Participate in code reviews, SIT/UAT support, and deployment activities
