Job summary

Cognizant is seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer to support core banking systems across Deposits, Loans, Customer & Account Management, General Ledger and Tax. You will work in COBOL-based environments with batch processing and mainframe tooling.

Remote-friendly role open to qualified US applicants; strong COBOL/JCL/VSAM skills, Endevor and Xpediter experience, and banking domain knowledge are highly valued. The position offers competitive compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

5+ years of hands-on mainframe dev experience with COBOL, JCL, VSAM, and batch processing.
Strong banking domain knowledge across Deposits, Loans, Customer & Account Mgmt, GL, Tax.
Experience with Endevor, Xpediter, and Easytrieve.
Knowledge of CICS and IMS is preferred.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, enhance, test, and maintain mainframe applications supporting core banking operations.
Analyze business and technical requirements and translate them into mainframe solutions.
Develop and support batch processing jobs using COBOL, JCL, VSAM, and other mainframe technologies.
Perform code debugging, troubleshooting, defect resolution, and production support activities.
Collaborate with business analysts, architects, testers, and stakeholders to implement system enhancements.
Participate in code reviews, unit testing, SIT/UAT support, and deployment activities.
