Cognizant is seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer to support core banking systems and deliver high‑quality COBOL‑based solutions. You will work on deposits, loans, customer and account management, and general ledger modules, while applying batch processing and mainframe tooling expertise.

The role emphasizes hands‑on development, debugging, and production support in a banking environment, with flexible remote opportunities in the United States and strong collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on mainframe app development (COBOL/JCL/VSAM).
• Strong core banking experience: Deposits, Loans, Customer/Account Mgmt, GL, Tax.
• Experience with Endevor, Xpediter, Easytrieve; knowledge of CICS/IMS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, enhance, test, and maintain mainframe applications supporting core banking operations.
• Analyze business and technical requirements and translate them into effective mainframe solutions.
• Develop and support batch processing jobs using COBOL, JCL, VSAM, and other mainframe technologies.
• Perform code debugging, troubleshooting, defect resolution, and production support activities.
• Collaborate with business analysts, architects, testers, and stakeholders to implement system enhancements.
• Participate in code reviews, unit testing, SIT/UAT support, and deployment activities.
