Job summary

PlanIT Group, LLC is seeking a seasoned Systems Engineer to install, configure, and manage Windows-based infrastructure across remote and travel sites. The role requires hands-on expertise with AD, GPOs, Exchange, and M365 migrations, along with strong PowerShell skills.

The position involves collaborating with DevOps/NetOps, migrating data to the corporate cloud, and ensuring security, backups, and disaster recovery. Remote work is supported with international travel.

Qualifications

• 10+ years' experience in Windows OS/Server/AD/GPOs setup and troubleshooting.
• Ability to work with minimal direction and distributed teams.
• Strong communication across business and IT.
• Experience coordinating with vendors for email preferences.
• Experience with virtualization (VMware).
• Familiar with monitoring systems (PRTG, Nagios).
• Backup/Replication tools (Backup Exec, Veeam, etc.).
• PowerShell for Exchange data extraction.
• Microsoft Exchange or M365 migration/troubleshooting.
• Time management and problem-solving skills.
• End-user training and documentation experience.
• Outlook proficiency.
• M365 migration tools (AvePoint, Bit Titan).
• Proofpoint a plus.
• SharePoint/OneDrive/Teams tenant migrations.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain OS, apps, and management tools.
• Travel to offices for surveys and documentation of hardware/software/infrastructure.
• Collaborate with DevOps/NetOps to deploy solutions.
• Migrate server data and permissions to corporate cloud.
• Monitor/perf test apps; identify bottlenecks and fixes.
• Maintain security, backup, and business continuity strategies.
• Provide escalation support for the tech team.
• Manage email domain hosting and registrar migrations.
• Update MX records to control mail flow.
• Recreate email profiles and troubleshoot mail flow issues.
• Provide end-user training for Email and Cloud systems.
• Troubleshoot local Outlook issues; use command line switches.
• Run PowerShell and extract data from legacy Exchange systems.
