Job summary

Orion Placement in California seeks a senior civil litigation defense attorney to lead matters from evaluation through resolution. You will oversee cases, mentor associates, and coordinate defense strategies, with full remote work across the state and occasional court appearances.

This role requires a California Bar license, 4+ years of civil litigation experience, strong writing and communication skills, and experience supervising junior attorneys.

Responsibilities

• Lead civil litigation defense matters from evaluation through resolution, including trial preparation.
• Develop defense strategies, evaluate claims, and identify favorable outcomes.
• Supervise and mentor associate attorneys, guiding litigation strategy and case management.
• Handle discovery, depositions, motion practice, and other phases of litigation.
• Collaborate with clients, insurance reps, and legal teams to deliver effective representation.
• Review pleadings and filings to maintain high-quality work.
• Manage case priorities and drive litigation forward while maintaining client relationships.

Location: Remote | California Statewide

Enjoy the flexibility of working remotely from anywhere in California. Our practice is based in Los Angeles, but qualified attorneys throughout the state are encouraged to apply. Occasional California court appearances may be required.

Note: Applicants must currently reside in California, hold an active California Bar license in good standing, and have 4+ years of civil litigation experience. Candidates must also have experience supervising associate attorneys or independently leading litigation matters from initial evaluation through resolution.

• 4+ years of civil litigation experience.
• Experience supervising associate attorneys or independently managing litigation matters from inception through resolution.
• Strong litigation strategy, legal writing, and communication skills.
• Experience in personal injury defense, insurance defense, construction defect, habitability, insurance coverage, product liability, or professional liability litigation is preferred.
• Experience with depositions, discovery, and motion practice is highly valued.
