Job summary

Canonican? Canonical is hiring an Associate Support Engineer for a globally remote role. You will deliver expert technical support on Ubuntu and open source products, triage complex cloud and desktop issues, and own cases from qualification to resolution.

You will collaborate with a diverse team, contribute to knowledge bases, and participate in weekend rotations. A strong Linux background and good English communication are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Exceptional academic track record from high school and university.
• Undergraduate degree in a technical subject (CS, MIS, EE, etc.).
• Confidence to speak up, exchange feedback and ideas respectfully.
• Track record of going above-and-beyond to achieve results.
• Experience with Linux troubleshooting and logs/stack traces.
• Knowledge of 2+ of: Linux server admin, programming fundamentals, networking, cloud concepts.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support from a remote home office for Canonical employees.
• Own new cases via telephone, email and web and keep customers updated.
• Advocate for internal customers and manage SLA commitments.
• Contribute to knowledge base articles and draft technical notices.
• Prioritise tasks to handle important issues first and learn as products evolve.
• Understand Ubuntu development timelines to set customer expectations.
• Communicate regularly with team members locally and remotely.
• Identify opportunities to improve service and participate in weekend rotations.
