Job summary

Manulife is seeking a Life Underwriting Auditor to conduct detailed audits of underwriting initiatives, ensure guideline adherence, and provide actionable insights to align decisions with pricing and regulatory requirements.

You will collaborate with Underwriting Management, Risk, Training, and Innovation teams to develop CAPs, strengthen controls, and translate findings into training and improved guidelines. This remote role supports continental US operations.

Qualifications

• Several years (typically 5+) experience in life insurance underwriting with medical and financial underwriting expertise.
• Strong understanding of life products, guidelines, and risk selection principles.
• Ability to interpret complex medical/financial information and assess risk.
• Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and pattern recognition.
• Clear written and verbal communication to underwriters and leadership.
• Professionalism, integrity, and discretion with sensitive information.
• Experience in auditing, QA, or risk management in underwriting (preferred).
• Familiarity with governance, risk controls, and regulatory expectations (preferred).
• Comfort with data analysis using Excel/BI (preferred).
• Designations ALU/FALU/FLMI or equivalent (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Conduct post-issue audits and monitoring of new underwriting initiatives.
• Review underwriting decisions for medical, financial, and operational soundness.
• Identify errors and trends; prepare structured management reports.
• Collaborate to develop CAPs and track remediation progress.
• Support enhancement of Underwriting Risk Control Framework and KRIs.
• Translate audit findings into targeted training and guidelines.
• Test and evaluate innovative tools, rules engines, and GenAI impacts.
• Design and execute targeted audits for underwriting innovation.
• Ensure audit documentation for internal audit and regulatory review.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of audit frameworks and metrics.
