Job summary

Manulife is seeking a Life Underwriting Auditor to perform detailed audits of underwriting initiatives and assess alignment with pricing, mortality assumptions, and regulatory requirements. This remote role invites candidates nationwide to contribute to governance, CAPs, and continuous improvement.

You will review medical and financial underwriting decisions, identify trends, and collaborate with Risk, Training, and Innovation teams to enhance audit frameworks and training programs.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of life insurance underwriting experience.
• Strong understanding of underwriting guidelines and risk selection.
• Ability to interpret complex medical and financial information and assess risk.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills; ability to present findings clearly.
• Discretion with handling sensitive information and strong professionalism.
• Experience in audit, quality assurance, or risk management within life underwriting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct post-issue audits and monitor underwriting initiatives for technical accuracy and guideline adherence.
• Review underwriting decisions for medical, financial, and operational soundness.
• Identify errors, trends, and themes in audit results and prepare clear reports.
• Collaborate with Underwriting Management and Risk Management on CAPs and remediation progress.
• Support enhancement of the Underwriting Risk Control Framework and KRIs.
• Translate audit findings into targeted training and guideline clarifications.
• Provide input into innovation initiatives (tools, rules engines, GenAI) and assess impact.
• Assist with design and execution of targeted audits for underwriting innovation.
• Ensure audit documentation is complete and suitable for internal audit and regulators.
• Contribute to ongoing continuous improvement of audit frameworks and reporting.
