Job summary

Newberry Group seeks an experienced Legacy Support Engineer with strong mainframe IDMS and Db2 z/OS DBA expertise to maintain, support, and enhance enterprise legacy database systems. This role focuses on stability, performance, and modernization support for high-visibility production environments within our Public Sector client.

The position is full-time and telecommuting; applicants must reside in the United States and be eligible for a Public Trust clearance.

Qualifications

7+ years of experience supporting legacy/mainframe systems in production environments.
Bachelor’s degree in CS, IS, Engineering, or related field.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
Ability to work remotely with distributed teams.

Responsibilities

Provide daily operational support for legacy mainframe applications and databases.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve issues to minimize downtime.
Analyze system performance and optimize tuning opportunities.
Support batch processing, job scheduling, and production workflows.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams for patches and updates.
Participate in incident management, root-cause analysis, and remediation planning.
Assist with maintenance windows and environment migrations.
Document processes and configurations for knowledge continuity.
