Job summary

Jobgether is seeking a Legacy Support Engineer listed on behalf of a partner in the United States. The role focuses on maintaining stability, performance, and reliability of legacy mainframe databases (IDMS and Db2 z/OS) supporting public sector operations.

You will provide hands-on production support and collaborate with distributed teams on enhancements, patches, and modernization. This fully remote, full-time position requires 7+ years of mainframe experience, a technical degree, strong

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline and 7+ years of mainframe production support experience.
Hands-on IDMS DBA experience with DL/I-style databases, schemas and subschemas.
Working knowledge of Db2 z/OS, SQL, and mainframe DB administration fundamentals.
Experience with traditional batch processing systems, JCL, job scheduling, and production operations.

Responsibilities

Provide daily operational support for legacy mainframe applications and associated database environments.
Administer and optimize IDMS databases, including backups, recovery, upgrades and patching.
Support Db2 z/OS environments, including SQL activities and core DBA tasks.
Diagnose and resolve complex production issues to minimize downtime and service disruption.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement patches, maintenance, and modernization initiatives.
Participate in incident management, root‑cause analysis, and remediation planning.
Document procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting activities to preserve knowledge continuity.
