Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin's Red McCombs School of Business is seeking a Senior Web Developer to lead WordPress development, ongoing maintenance, accessibility, analytics, and security across Pantheon-hosted sites. You will collaborate with Marketing and Communications, Technology Solutions, and external partners to deliver reliable, scalable web experiences.

This is an Austin, TX-based role with eligibility for remote work and a 40-hour week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with five or more years of experience developing comprehensive, usable webpages.
• Proficiency with Wordpress and the ability to work with Wordpress themes and plugins.
• Proficiency with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Understanding of and experience with web accessibility standards.
• Experience with Google Analytics.
• Experience with search engine optimization best practices and tools.
• Experience working with project management tools to track and document project status and progress.
• Ability to work collaboratively and independently with strong attention to detail.
• Effective communicator and problem-solver across technical and non-technical teams.
• Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to engage multiple internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to communicate technical information to lay audiences using a clear, respectful, and client-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• WordPress Development, Maintenance, and Operations: primary WordPress web developer; maintain, enhance, troubleshoot sites; oversee day-to-day maintenance, administration, and security; develop custom themes, modules, and integrations; align with teams on site governance and security.
• Accessibility and Quality Assurance: ensure sites meet federal and university accessibility standards; cross-browser/device compatibility; QA during staging and after deployment.
• Analytics and Search Optimization: set up analytics, create reports and dashboards; optimize sites for SEO and AI search.
• Collaboration: provide customer support to stakeholders; evaluate new tools and workflows; collaborate with freelancers; ensure brand/editorial standards.
