Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin is hiring a Senior Web Developer for the Texas McCombs Marketing and Communications team. You will lead daily site maintenance, security, and custom WordPress development across multiple sites hosted on Pantheon.

You will collaborate with Marketing, Technology Solutions, and external partners to ensure accessibility, SEO, and brand standards while delivering high-quality web experiences for a premier business school.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with five or more years of experience developing comprehensive, usable webpages.
Proficiency with Wordpress and the ability to work with Wordpress themes and plugins.
Proficiency with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Understanding of and experience with web accessibility standards.
Experience with Google Analytics.
Experience with search engine optimization best practices and tools.
Experience working with project management tools to track and document project status and progress.
Ability to work collaboratively and independently with strong attention to detail.
Effective communicator and problem-solver across technical and non-technical teams.
Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to engage multiple internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Act as the primary WordPress web developer for the McCombs School of Business. Develop, maintain, enhance, and troubleshoot McCombs websites.
Oversee the day-to-day maintenance, administration, and security of McCombs websites.
Develop custom themes, content modules, and integrations for McCombs websites.
Keep up with the latest in Developer Operations. Contribute to new practices and procedures for code release cycles, testing, and help develop more efficient team workflows and infrastructure.
Align with UT Austin and McCombs Technology Solutions teams on site governance and security.
Monitor, repair, and maintain McCombs websites to ensure accessibility and QA standards.
Ensure sites are compatible with modern browsers, devices, and operating systems.
Ensure compliance with policies on website usage, security standards, and brand guidelines.
QA sites in an iterative process, during staging and after deployment.
Set up and maintain analytics tools and create custom reports and dashboards.
Contribute to SEO and AI search optimization for McCombs sites.
Provide excellent customer support and communication to stakeholders and clients.
Research and evaluate new technologies to improve tools and workflows.
Collaborate with freelance web developers and designers.
Collaborate with content teams to ensure brand and editorial standards.
Serve as a technical resource to non-technical team members.
