Job summary

Leidos Inc. is seeking a Lead Substation Protection & Controls Engineer to own complex P&C designs across 12-500 kV systems, applying advanced digital logic and AC/DC circuit expertise to protect the grid and enable renewable integration.

This fully remote role requires travel to customer sites and is open to candidates in the Denver, CO or Minneapolis, MN area. You will benefit from mentorship and coaching, professional licensure support (PE), PMP development, technical and nontechnical

Qualifications

• Experience delivering substation protection and control design projects.
• Ability to create relay oneline diagrams and AC/DC schematics.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites.
• PE licensure support and PMP development mentioned in programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the delivery of substation protection and control design projects, ensuring technical excellence and ontime performance.
• Create and refine relay oneline diagrams that define protection zones and system topology.
• Develop detailed AC schematics that capture current, voltage, and protection device relationships.
• Produce DC control and protection schematics that ensure safe and reliable operation of substation equipment.
• Design control panels, wiring diagrams, and physical layouts that support efficient construction and longterm maintainability.
• Build accurate BOMs aligned with project criteria, equipment standards, and client requirements.
