Job summary

Leidos Inc. seeks a Senior / Lead Substation Protection & Controls Engineer to own complex P&C designs across 12-500 kV systems, applying advanced digital logic and AC/DC circuit expertise to protect the modern grid and enable renewable integration.

The role offers a fast-paced, collaborative environment with leadership pathways and strong mentorship. You will lead design efforts, develop protection and control schematics, and mentor junior staff while ensuring safety, quality, and on-time

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering required.
• 8+ years of substation protection and control design experience.
• Strong leadership and project management abilities.
• Excellent communication with internal teams and clients.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support delivery of substation protection and control design projects with on-time performance.
• Create and refine relay one-line diagrams defining protection zones and topology.
• Develop detailed AC schematics with currents, voltages, and protection device relationships.
• Produce DC control schematics ensuring safe operation of substation equipment.
• Design control panels, wiring diagrams, and layouts for constructability and longevity.
• Build accurate BOMs aligned with client requirements and standards.
• Perform QC checks on wiring and schematics for safety and accuracy.
• Support project from scoping through energization and commissioning.
