Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Lead Substation Protection & Controls Engineer to own complex 12–500 kV P&C designs, applying advanced relay logic and AC/DC schematics to protect the grid and enable renewable integration. This senior role requires strong leadership and client‑facing capabilities.

You will develop one‑line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, and BOMs, mentor staff, and travel to project sites as needed for installation and commissioning support.

Qualifications

• Senior/Lead role in substation protection and control design.
• Experience leading and executing substation projects.
• Ability to communicate with clients and internal teams.
• Willingness to travel to project sites.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support delivery of substation protection and control design projects.
• Create and refine relay one-line diagrams.
• Develop detailed AC schematics showing current, voltage, and device relationships.
• Produce DC control and protection schematics for safe operation.
• Design control panels, wiring diagrams, and layouts for construction and maintainability.
• Build accurate BOMs aligned with criteria and client needs.
• Perform QC checks on wiring and schematics for safety and constructability.
• Support from scoping through energization and field installation.
